Felix Instruments will host a free workshop for avocado industry leaders in Malaga, Spain on Thursday December 16, emphasizing how the avocado meter is setting high benchmarks in fruit quality.
The Felix Instruments Avocado Quality Meter enables an almost instantaneous and non-destructive assessment of avocado dry matter. Used by Mission Avocado, Camposol and Del Monte, the device makes dry matter measurement easier, increases testing consistency and reduces measurement time by 95 percent.

The free workshop is presented by application scientist Eric Munoz with Felix Instruments’ local distributors in attendance. They will reveal how Felix’s clients use the device, show the Avocado Meter in action with a live demonstration and let attendees try the device out for themselves.
Conference-goers will discover how the highly adaptable quality meter uses near-infrared analysis to assess dry matter, a vital indicator of overall fruit quality and ripeness. Dry matter assessment traditionally took hours to perform, but the Avocado Meter reduces that to an eight to 10 second scan at the push of a button.
Attendees will be able to try out the meter for themselves.
The workshop, the only one of its kind to be held in 2021, will also highlight tech and accuracy improvements on the device and provide an opportunity for networking among avocado industry colleagues.
The instrument also comes with the opportunity to use Fruit Maps, a free interactive harvest map application co-created by Felix Instruments and Central Queensland University.
