Aerospring Hydroponics:

“There’s a foreseeable future with hydroponics in every home”

“Aerospring’s mission is to make fresh produce accessible to everyone by creating versatile and efficient hydroponic products that can be used in homes and commercial settings,” explains Mark Newton, chief operating officer at Aerospring Hydroponics.

Aerospring Hydroponics is a Singaporean agtech company that designs space-efficient and modular growing systems to allow anyone to grow fresh fruits and vegetables whether in a small apartment, on a balcony or in an office space. Being modular, multiple Aerospring products can be installed in the same space to increase production as needed.

“We’ve designed a sleek, modular vertical gardening system that is easy to assemble, easy to maintain, and fits into the smallest spaces,” says Mark. The company received its first US patent in 2020.

Designed for indoor or outdoor use
Aerospring has designed its vertical gardening system for both indoor and outdoor use, with its indoor system being a 2-in-1 convertible system that is 187 cm high and 85 cm wide. This system can be used outdoors during the summer months, then brought inside during colder months by adding an indoor kit with professional-grade LED bars and highly reflective grow tent material to keep the supplemented light in the growing area.

The standard outdoor system is 159 cm high and 64.5 cm wide. Aerospring’s standard indoor and outdoor system can grow up to 27 plants in 1 m2. The company has also designed the Aerospring Pro outdoor system, which can hold up to 36 plants.

Additional features of Aerospring’s vertical gardening system are the integration of WiFi-connected timers for irrigation and lighting, easy-to-remove grow cups, strong wheelbase for mobility, hexagonal shape for maximum light exposure when outdoors, and a silent water pump.

Indoor and outdoor option

“We have sold over 3,000 Aerospring vertical gardening kits since our launch in 2016 and we continue to obsess over ways to improve the products and deliver a functional design, high performance, and outstanding user experience,” Mark explains.

Aerospring Hydroponics believes that home hydroponic systems can be judged based on three primary criteria: productivity, maintenance, and ease of cleaning. According to Mark, Aerospring’s systems excel in all three areas while also providing continued support through social media communities for its clients.

“Our systems were designed to give our customers the peace of mind that it will be a highly productive garden that will easily be maintained and function for many years to come. We believe in empowering our customers by not requiring subscription and providing plenty of guide through our social communities,” explains Mark.

Demand for home hydroponic kits skyrocketed during the pandemic
As noted by Mark and numerous other agtech companies, the pandemic strongly contributed to a spike in consumer demand for home growing products such as Aerospring vertical gardens. The company has shipped its products throughout North America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Oceania.

While people may be beginning to return to work and spend less time at home than during the first waves of the pandemic, Aerospring Hydroponics expects the demand for home growing products to continue rising as consumers are increasingly concerned about sustainability, food safety, and security.

“Consumers are more aware of our global climate crisis, sustainability issues, and the problems with our food chain including food safety and security,” says Mark. “We expect hydroponics to become more mainstream, with a foreseeable future where there is a hydroponic system in every home.”
