Wayne Johnson - Faedah Solutions

“We have targeted SMEs who want to digitalise, it doesn’t have to be expensive"

When a business is looking at digitalisation, especially a start up, it can be a daunting not to mention expensive affair.

Faedah Solutions has technology aimed at SMEs to make the process easier and more affordable. The company is itself a very new business, but Director Wayne Johnson has worked in the food industry for 25 years.

“Last month we launched our Mobile Barcode Validation scanner. Other label verification technology has always targeted use in factories or packhouses, but we have found that people starting up often only have one production line and are sometimes just working from a table. The bigger systems which are available don’t lend themselves to this. There are also more and more people packing directly in the fields on the rigs where it can be difficult to be online.”

The Mobile Barcode Validation scanner is fully portable and very robust, and it doesn’t only scan barcodes, it can also validate. The product information is entered into the central database in the main factory. This is information such as product pictures, primary and secondary packaging barcodes and more. The device is synced back to the main database, ensuring all the information is now contained in the device. Once out in the field if for example, the wrong packaging is used a red warning on the screen is raised when the barcode is scanned.

“This can all be done on a mobile device such as a phone, tablet etc. people are already familiar with these devices and it is very cost effective,” said Wayne.

“We have targeted SMEs who want to digitalise, it doesn’t have to be expensive, and it can be built into a more comprehensive platform through time by introducing more modules such as our paperless check system – Check Sure®”
