La Torrente awaits you at TuttoFood Milano 2021 in Hall 18 Stand 29/32

100% Italian tomatoes do not fear the markets nor competition

"The 100% Italian tomato, processed according to the finest Italian tradition, is one of the key assets that has allowed us to position our wide range of red processed products on the markets, without fearing the competition that massively dominates the markets in this sector".

The commercial spot ‘Oggi come ieri, il buon pomodoro italiano' (Today as in the past, the best Italian tomato) sums up the work we have been doing for over 60 years and three generations. These are the values that we will be conveying at Tuttofood 2021 - the international food and beverage exhibition - where we are looking forward to welcoming customers, visitors and buyers at Hall 18, Stand 29/32 from 22 to 26 October, said Giuseppe Torrente, owner and marketing director of La Torrente, a leading company in the processed tomato segment, based in Campania (Italy).

In recent years, the canning sector in Campania, especially in the processed tomato segment, has successfully made the most of its products, overcoming years of crisis. The product is in great demand, especially abroad. Recent years have seen the entire tomato chain undercut and sometimes trivialized by underpricing. In recent years, La Torrente has invested resources and energy to boost exports, with a view to increasing growth and establishing the brand in new countries where it is not present.

The range of branded products includes more than 10 varieties of native tomatoes: long and round red tomatoes, yellow cherry tomatoes, Agro Sarnese Nocerino San Marzano tomatoes, Corbarino tomatoes, hill cherry tomatoes, Valle del Fortore datterini tomatoes. The premium segment of Specialty Tomatoes, both red and yellow, has grown, especially in the Ho.re.ca sector, but also the large-scale retail trade has shown a strong interest in these leading products to promote the territory and the entire supply chain, mostly driven by the demands of consumers looking for traditional products.

"A priority commitment for 2022 is to implement green policies, with a reduction of plastic in packaging and the recovery of so-called industrial waste, to be used for sustainability and the circular economy. We are focusing on a number of projects aimed at bringing value to tomato waste (peels and seeds) for disposal, both for energy production and for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors. However, the process of producing energy from tomato waste has its costs. Research has been going on for years to keep these costs down, but their recycling for energy purposes can make them sustainable, saving the costs of traditional waste disposal.”

"Among the new products that will be on show at Tuttofood Milan 2021, are our 400g Friarielli from Campania, and new formats of the classic products already in our catalogue, including yellow tomatoes and San Marzano tomatoes in 800g and 400g packages".

One of La Torrente's main assets is the processing of 100% Italian tomatoes in a short chain (from sowing to harvesting and distribution) through loyal producers, since the company was founded. The two-year period 2021-2023 will bring major changes to the company, starting with the inauguration of the new 34,000 square meters plant.
