The objective of the International Banana Convention, which this year celebrates its XVIII edition in hybrid mode, is to strengthen and expand trade relations between the actors of the banana industry in parallel with the dynamics of global business. This year the city of Guayaquil will be the meeting point from 26 to 29 October 2021.
The agenda is made up of national and international exhibitors and addresses the main challenges in trade, logistics and regulations. The expectation is to surpass the results of 2020 with more than 310 business appointments and a business scope of 98.7 million dollars.
"This year we will have three thematic axes to improve the conditions and competitiveness of the sector,” says José Antonio Hidalgo, executive director of AEBE. They are:
- Looking East, post-pandemic and its impacts
- Future of bananas in the face of Fusarium R4T threat
- Shared responsibility, EU farm-to-table strategy
"Ecuadorian bananas are the best in the world, and this year we are taking on a new challenge as we will exclusively present the Banana Culinary Guide through a gastronomic show,” says Marianela Ubilla, president of AEBE's board of directors. “This is the result of research carried out together with the Guayaquil School of Chefs, the aim of which is to promote the consumption of the fruit in homes, hotels and restaurants, taking advantage of its versatility and nutritional value."
This international meeting will be available to all virtually so attendees from different corners of the world can access keynote lectures and commercial exhibition with the presence of product offerings, services, technology applied to the sector, biosecurity, amongst others.
The XVIII International Banana Convention will bring together national and international players in the industry.
