Exotic Roots celebrated its first anniversary at the beginning of October. They did so with their partners and clients at their new premises in the Netherlands. They toasted this milestone with champagne and a bite to eat.
This young company is growing fast. It is already busy taking its next (overseas) steps. One of their projects is rooted in Kenya. They recently visited growers there. They went to see products and processes. And to discuss the possibilities of growers cultivating red Bird's eye chili for them. Starting at the end of November, this will be harvested year-round.
Exotic Roots has partnered with JAMI Trading. This company, also based in the Netherlands, supplies these chilies for both retail and wholesale throughout the year. The two companies are joining forces to make a success of this venture.
"JAMI Trading are experts when it comes to farming and logistics in Kenya. This partnership with Exotic Roots - which sells lots of chilies - should lead to us supplying a large part of the market. We can offer competitively priced, fresh, certified chilies. We see plenty of market opportunities for chilies," says Exotic Roots' Tim Struckman.
The first shipment is expected in week 47. Exotic Roots does not only specialize in red Bird's eye chilies, they also offer ripe and green jackfruit and other exotics. These come from countries like India, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Spain.
