CMA CGM and BigCommerce: a partnership to develop online solutions

BigCommerce, an open SaaS (Software as a Service) platform offering its services to growing companies as well as already established brands, the CMA CGM Group, specialized in maritime transport and logistics, and its NewOxatis branch, player in online commercial sites, have announced a strategic partnership that will allow thousands of NewOxatis clients to create global digital platforms designed by BigCommerce. This partnership, combined with the product “NewOxatis powered by BigCommerce”, give NewOxatis clients access to cutting-edge technology and partnerships for an engaging multi-channel experience.

“Thanks to this partnership with a global leader such as BigCommerce and the complementary expertise within the Group, we can ensure the development of e-commerce and digital marketing solutions for our clients and we can also manage the entire supply chain,” explains Michael Miramond, chief digital officer of the CMA CGM Group and general director of NewOxatis. “This partnership is fully in line with the desire of the CMA CGM Group to accelerate the innovation and digitalization of its industry by providing an end-to-end digital offer to its clients.”

The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a sharp increase in online purchases which has strongly accelerated the development of e-commerce markets of the Eurozone. For Europe only, online sales are predicted to reach 541 billion USD in 2021. Therefore, the B2B and B2C companies wanting to build or expand their digital presence will be able to use the 20 years of expertise of NewOxatis, as well as the native capabilities and rich e-commerce ecosystem of BigCommerce in order to digitize their activity with an evolutive and functionally rich platform.

“Our joint-venture with the CMA CGM Group and NewOxatis represents the next step in a series of important partnerships that demonstrate our growing presence in the entire EMEA zone (Europe, Middle-East and Africa), the success of our Powered by BigCommerce solution and our unparalleled position to help develop this line of business,” explains Brent Bellm, general director of BigCommerce. “The commitment of BigCommerce in favor of developing the NewOxatis clientele is based on sharing our technologies, bringing together our Open-SaaS platform and the position of CMA CGM as a leading global shipping and logistics company giving companies the means to build and develop their online activities.”

This partnership will also help meet the needs of companies by focusing on the full integration of their information systems with their new online sales channel: ERP, catalog management software (PIM), CRM and marketing tools. It will propose the complete creation of new online sales sites and digital marketing services, such as referencing (SEO) or advertising with Google Ads, in order to optimize their clients’ online presence and allow them to reach new targets and increase their sales.

Determined to offer shipping and logistics solutions meeting the needs of its clients throughout the world, the CMA CGM Group accelerates innovation and digitalization. By investing in R&D and IoT, artificial intelligence and blockchain solutions, the Group develops more innovative and more secure solutions, facilitating the experience of users, whether they are clients or employees.

“In a world where retailers are increasingly adopting a proactive digital strategy, it is essential to have an online sales website and to keep it up to date. In fact, the significant increase of these costs is a major challenge for suppliers of SaaS solutions,” explains Russell Klein, chief commercial officer of BigCommerce. “Thanks to our ‘Powered By’ product, the SaaS companies can offer cutting-edge capabilities to their clients, as well as an innovative platform created and maintained by BigCommerce, an essential asset on a market characterized by a growing concentration in the hands of a limited number of strongly capitalized players.”
