Italian PND fruit peeling and cutting machines requested in Central and South America

In the last three years, the processing of fruit and vegetables in Central and South America has seen a strong development. The Italian company PND, which specializes in the manufacturing of machines for peeling and cutting fruit, has sold 55 machines in Peru, 45 in Mexico, 15 in Costa Rica and about 20 in the rest of Central and South America. With a total of about 135 machines in South America alone, PND has become a major player in the field of tropical fruit processing and, more specifically, mangoes and pineapples.

Gianluca Giordano, Sales Area Manager

"Building a relationship of trust with companies that are accustomed to manual labor processes carried out by highly qualified personnel seemed like a difficult challenge, but now we can say that we have built an efficient and solid sales network consisting of sales agents and customers ranging from small growers to larger players in world exports," said Gianluca Giordano.

Thanks to an uninterrupted cooperation between customers, sales agents and PND staff, the company is able to improve, adapt and make its machines effective and efficient to meet the requirements of an increasingly controlled and demanding retail market.

"For example, our mango peeler, particularly in Peru and Mexico, has reached a very high production capacity and allows the processing of this fruit with a waste rate of 20%, which is close to the same result that could be achieved with manual peeling. Customers appreciate the simplicity of use of these machines. Not only are they efficient, they are also cheap to maintain and robust, so they maintain their excellent performance years after the first use," said Giordano.

The company is also currently focusing on the sale of pineapple processing machines and estimates that within a few years it will be able to introduce more integrated lines to the main pineapple growers and processors, especially in Costa Rica, where many companies use outdated and also expensive machines.

Pineapple cut in different ways

"Our pineapple line is currently the most productive in the world market, with an extremely competitive cost. The machines offer different cutting options to meet the requirements of the markets to which this product is mainly exported (Japan, United States). Moreover, our international and multilingual communication strategy proves to be efficient every day, supported and assisted by a competent team," concluded Giordano.
