“Zero Pesticide Residue” passes 100 million UVC marketed

Popular among consumers and valued by retailers, the label “Zero Pesticide Residue” continues to grow. As a symbol of the transformation of French agriculture, it is now found in 6 departments of the French retail sector.

It continues to grow, with a 13% increase in value during the 1st semester of 2021 (vs. N-1), for all sectors combined. The progression of the “Zero Pesticide Residue” label is based on a dynamic listing of products with the label: +30% between 2021 and 2020 in number of references available on the market (from 155 at the end of 2020 to 200 “Zero Pesticide Residue” references available today, including 180 in the fresh fruit and vegetables category).

This year, the label is present in 6 different departments of the French retail sector: fruit and vegetables, dried fruit, frozen products, pasta, drinks and wines. Born in the world of fresh fruit and vegetables, it has now become a cross-sector label, which simplifies the comprehension of the approach and multiplies the points of contact in the stores. This results in the recruitment of over 211,000 households buying the “Zero Pesticide Residue” label during the 1st half of 2021 (source: Kantar).

For 2 years now on the French fruit and vegetable shelves, the “Zero Pesticide Residue” label is the one that attracts young customers the most. 46% of the volumes are generated by customers younger than 50 years old (vs. 34% in total on the fresh fruit and vegetable market).

4 new members have joined the Nouveaux Champs Collective during the 1st semester of 2021: La Cave du Marmandais (wines), les Vignerons de Puisseguin Lussac Saint-Emilion (wines), Epileg (fresh fruit and vegetables) and Terres du Sud (processed fruit and vegetables), which reinforces the transversality of the Collective.

Very recently, the Nouveaux Champs Collective announced the creation of a club of companies to develop and promote the “Zero Pesticide Residue” approach.

At the moment, this club includes 4 companies committed to a vision of progress for French agriculture who are champions of this “third way for agriculture” which is emerging among consumers, especially by developing the promise of “zero pesticide residue”. They want to share their experiences and reflect together in order to build an agriculture of the future, always more innovative, efficient and committed, with practices that are respectful of the environment.
