Grupo Cañamás and IOland sign collaboration agreement

"Today it is necessary to take maximum advantage of technology to optimize and better manage plantations"

The family group Cañamás, which has been producing high quality citrus fruits since 1929, and the technology company IOland, which develops agricultural management tools, have signed an agreement for the implementation of all IOland solutions in the management of Cañamás fields.

IOland's Agroclimatic Irrigation Control Stations are already well-known. They make it possible to measure the humidity, temperature and conductivity levels below the soil. There is also Samplers, an advanced, fast and effective tool for sampling in crop fields and obtaining geostatistical data. Since September, it has also been available for download on Android.

The latest addition to the range worldwide is SOLUT-ION, a device that allows the user to measure nutrients directly from the soil and in real time, providing accurate information for decision-making on the treatments to be carried out. Its official presentation is taking place at the Fruit Attraction fair on October 5, 6 and 7.

The Cañamás Group, based in the Spanish municipality of Oliva, in the Region of Valencia, is one of the leaders in the production and marketing of citrus fruits, with more than 2,000 hectares in the Region of Valencia and Andalusia, with another 1,900 hectares of forest land. Its strong orientation towards sustainability has led it to search for innovative solutions that allow a better agricultural management, resource optimization, and as a consequence, more profitable productions.

IOland was created as a technological brand of Grupo Fitogar, with more than 50 years of agricultural experience, and its mission is to innovate in agricultural management and boost profitability in agriculture.

After a year of testing with the IOland team, and following the results obtained in the previous season, Grupo Cañamás has decided to rely even more on technology for the management of its plantations. Jorge Cañamás, CEO of Grupo Cañamás, said that: "Nowadays it is necessary to take maximum advantage of technology to optimize and better manage plantations, both as regards water and fertilizer consumption, and environmental protection."

For IOland, it is an opportunity to continue developing.  "All these tools help producers and technicians make more informed decisions, always with real time data and without needing to wait for the results of the analyses," says IOland's CEO, Camilo Garcés.

This alliance aims to accelerate the innovation process in agriculture and promote sustainable practices that also allow adaptation to the new business model.
