Semmaris and Coopération Agricole sign a partnership to promote French products at Rungis

Semmaris, the company managing the International Market of Rungis, and Coopération Agricole, the federation of French agricultural cooperatives, are signing a partnership agreement in order to develop the access to the cooperative product offer at Rungis.

The Rungis Market/Semmaris and Coopération Agricole share common ambitions regarding the current challenges of the agri-food sector: France’s food sovereignty, the transition towards a sustainable agro-ecological diet, the preservation of resources, carbon neutrality, as well as the socio-economic development of the regions.

In order to find answers to these questions collectively, the Market of Rungis/Semmaris and Coopération Agricole will set up discussion and sharing groups on several areas of work, such as promoting assets and cooperative know-how to create more value throughout the food chain and developing the cooperatives and their offer on the Market of Rungis.

Regular updates on the progress of the actions implemented will be organized regularly. An operation “3 days of Coopérative Agricole” at Rungis, whose details still need to be defined, has already been agreed between the two partners.

“I am delighted about the signing of this partnership. The cooperatives are an essential link in the supply and distribution of French agricultural products. It is by exchanging ideas and sharing knowledge and experience between our ecosystems that together, we will be able to find concrete answers to the big challenges of the agri-food sector,” explains Stéphane Layani, chairman and CEO of the International Market of Rungis.

“In order to meet the challenges ahead, between ensuring competitiveness and managing transitions, the partnership approach must be at the heart of our strategic choices,” explains Dominique Chargé, president of Coopérative Agricole. “We are pleased to have signed this agreement with the Market of Rungis, which is fully in line with this dynamic, by giving us new opportunities to promote our cooperative offer in order to feed French cities.”
