Lamb Weston/Meijer to increase production capacity with new state-of-the-art fries plant in the Netherlands

Lamb Weston/Meijer (LW/M) has announced plans to build a new French fries plant. That will increase the current production facilities at its Kruiningen site in the Netherlands. This is an investment of approximately €200 million.

It'll boost the company's annual production capacity by 180,000 MT. The new factory will process potatoes using minimal water and energy. That fits with Lamb Weston/Meijer's 2030 sustainability plan. The factory should be operational by the first quarter of 2023.

The new production facility will be state-of-the-art. It'll let the company meet the growing global demand for frozen potato products. The new factory will be built alongside the three existing production plants at the Kruiningen site. It'll be the most automated plant in the LW/M network.

Kruiningen is a top supply, processing, and distribution location. That's for frozen potato products. This expansion also means Lamb Weston/Meijer will create more than 50 new jobs.

Marc Schroeder, CEO of Lamb Weston/Meijer: "This new facility at our Kruiningen site will reflect not only our ambition. We want to meet the growing demand for high-quality potato products sustainably. It demonstrates our commitment to our clients and growers too. We're building on the region's advantages."

"The state-of-the-art factory will consume less water and energy. It'll enable us to produce with fewer emissions. That's crucial to our sustainability strategy. This investment strengthens Lamb Weston/Meijer's global position. It contributes to our expansion goals. And to new product innovation and improved customer service," Marc concludes.
