Morocco’s citrus exports have reached a record volume of 766,500 tons during the 2021-2022 agricultural season. This is an overall increase of 40% compared to the year before. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the performance concerned all exported citrus products, including berries, whose export volume reached 629,300 tons during this season. Orange exports in particular saw an increase of 42% this season compared to the previous year.
The national production of citrus fruits during the previous agricultural year reached 2.7 million tons, an increase of 14% compared to the year before.
The country exports its citrus fruits to several countries, including the US. Data from the US Agriculture Department (USDA) showed that in July Morocco’s exports to the US had reached a record of 110 metric tons in 2021-2022. The number represents a 156% increase from last season.
